"Working in the hotel industry again was like coming home for me."
Name: Jacqueline Hompes Function: General manager hotel Tulip Inn Eindhoven Airport Leisure: Riding and training horses 'Together', 'movement' and 'development'; According to Jacqueline Hompes, general manager hotel Tulip Inn Eindhoven Airport, these are the reasons why her job fits her like an old coat. "It's always on the move here. From the restyling of the hotel rooms-"they have become really super beautiful" and the planned upgrade of the hotel bar to great projects like 'Binden & boeien' to make the airport even better as a workplace. The hectic pace and that every day looks different; I like that." Jacqueline has worked at the airport since September 2022. Before that, she worked for 12 years in various positions in the hotel industry in Belgium, Germany, France and Switzerland and as a clinic manager in an equine clinic in Belgium. The day she started at Eindhoven Airport is still clear in her mind; "I came home again" she says with a big smile. Because in the hotel business she can use her qualities and energy. One part of the day she does the administration; the other part of the day she is mainly operational and manages her team. Busyness, unexpected situations and working with people color her working days. She wouldn't want it any other way. "I like people and working together," she says. That her workdays are regularly hectic is all she enjoys.
The hotel's occupancy rate is very good and the hotel manager is happy with that. She 'runs' the hotel with her team of thirteen employees (front office, business center and breakfast shift) and with external employees for cleaning and housekeeping. Colleagues from Eindhoven Airport's Technical Department also do chores in the hotel. For the hotel bar, she works with self-employed people. "Because finding staff remains a challenge."Jacqueline finds it especially important that the working atmosphere is good and tasks are performed well."My job is to turn the right buttons and stimulate my employees. The basic principle is that working here should be fun and that everyone should be able to develop." In working at the airport, according to the hotel manager, a small gesture, a little help or advice can often give a lot of peace of mind. "That is often a small effort so I like to do that. What is also special is that you also encounter "strange birds" here."But if there is something going on, I know I can count on the 'men in blue.'"
Jacqueline is looking forward to the terminal expansion. "That's going to be very nice." But before then, first "her hotel bar" will get a metamorphosis. She can hardly wait for it to happen. Even in her sparse free time, Jacqueline is no idler as it turns out. After work, she goes to work caring for and training her horses.Or she goes horseback riding.Sometimes with her daughter-who is just as crazy about horses-sometimes alone. "I'm a real horse girl.Going into the woods and clearing my head wonderful!"
