The baggage process
Every day at the airport, thousands of suitcases, bags and other luggage such as strollers and golf clubs find their way to the right destination. The departing passenger checks in his hold luggage before going to Security Check. Labeled odd-size baggage such as golf clubs, skis, strollers, etc. can be checked in at a separate baggage carousel for Odd-size baggage. The arriving passenger gets off the plane and takes his suitcase or bag off the belt a short time later. There is a separate baggage belt for odd-size baggage. But what happens in the meantime? What is the process by which all those bags finally get to the right place so the passenger can continue his trip?
Baggage hall
Eindhoven Airport has a baggage hall where all check-in baggage is collected and sorted so that the suitcase or bag can be put on the right flight. The suitcase or bag is already labeled at the Self-service baggage drop-off so that it is clear on which flight it should be taken. After the passenger puts his suitcase or bag on the belt, it goes through the X-Ray. This equipment is used to check for goods that are not allowed on the plane. The baggage system in the baggage hall detects and collects the suitcases and bags that have to travel on the same flight. Then baggage handlers load all the hold baggage into the baggage carts and transport them to the plane with electric baggage pullers. The suitcases, bags, strollers, wheelchairs, golf clubs and other hold luggage is loaded with an electric power stow (a conveyor belt to the aircraft's cargo hold).
Baggage from arriving passengers is unloaded from the aircraft and goes to the arrival hall where the baggage is unloaded and the passenger takes their suitcase or bag off the belt.
