Passenger numbers at Eindhoven Airport remain at approximately 6.8 million, airport records a record financial result in 2024

Eindhoven Airport published its 2024 annual report today, highlighting a successful year. The airport began expanding its terminal in November, aiming to improve passenger comfort and capacity. Financially, 2024 was a record year, with robust results enabling significant investments. Passenger numbers remained stable at approximately 6.8 million, and customer satisfaction was high with a Net Promoter Score of +43. The airport stayed within the agreed limit of 41,500 flight movements.

Eindhoven Airport is set to make a significant quality leap. This initiative began with the expansion of the terminal. The current terminal, built for approximately 5 million passengers per year, is too cramped for the airport's passenger numbers (around 6.8 million per year). There is a particular lack of space in the area behind the Security Check. By increasing the floor area by nearly fifty percent, the terminal will soon offer more space and comfort. Among other improvements, there will be additional gates and a baggage basement. The arrival hall will also be expanded, providing more space for extra dining options. The expansion, which will be completed in the summer of 2027, will ensure that passengers and staff feel even more at home in the terminal.

Roel Hellemons, CEO of Eindhoven Airport: "We look back on a successful year in which we achieved very good financial results and continued to advance our strategy, where the quality of the airport plays an important role. We want to improve in every aspect. This includes not only good financial results but also a strong relationship with the community and a central role for sustainability. We are mindful of the environment and remain in dialogue with the people who live and work here. We also aim to accelerate our sustainability efforts, taking necessary actions such as promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuel."

In 2024, Eindhoven Airport had 40,826 flight movements, compared to 41,496 in 2023. This represents a decrease of approximately 1.6 percent from 2023. In 2024, flights were operated to 79 destinations (2023: 84). The net result for 2024 was 23.3 million euros (2023: 19.2 million euros). Eindhoven Airport's revenues increased by nearly ten percent in 2024 to 96.2 million euros (2023: 87.7 million euros).

The initial excavation and foundation work for the terminal expansion have been completed. Construction of the entrance building will begin this fall, and the highest point of the terminal will be reached in the fourth quarter. By summer 2027, passengers will be able to enjoy the extra space and comfort in the terminal. The airport continues to make progress in sustainability. The goal remains that by 2030, Eindhoven Airport's air traffic will emit at least 30 percent less CO2 than in 2019.

A challenge is the planned runway renovation in 2027, which will result in the runway being closed for about five months. During this period, no flights will be possible to or from Eindhoven Airport. This is a significant and impactful event that will affect passengers, airport staff, and airlines operating at Eindhoven Airport. We are, of course, in close consultation with all parties involved regarding the consequences of the temporary runway closure and are preparing carefully for this. Eindhoven Airport is committed to maintaining employment at the airport and with our partner companies.

The airport continues to work on further optimizing the quality and sustainability of the airport. Equally important is the commitment to a good relationship with the community. Eindhoven Airport continues to collaborate with the Eindhoven Airport Consultation, which includes residents, governments, and businesses.
