Places to visit in Izmir
The clock tower on Konak Square is more than 100 years old and is a great base from which to explore the city. You’ll often see street vendors selling pigeon feed on the square. You’ll also see lots of families with children enjoying an ice cream there. Beside the clock tower, the colourful mosque also instantly catches your eye and attracts many visitors, year after year. The Ancient Agora used to be the market place where residents would go for their weekly grocery shopping. A section of the old walls is still visible, and there are even a few pillars still standing. If you’re interested in seeing what remains of the old Roman city, this is absolutely where it’s at!
