Departure procedure with the least noise pollution

Introduction departure procedure with the least noise pollution for the immediate surroundings

After extensive discussion in the Eindhoven Airport Consultation, it appeared that most parties expressed a preference for the departure procedure (the way aircraft take off and climb to flying altitude) with the least noise nuisance for the immediate area. In this departure procedure, the aircraft climbs to the desired altitude as quickly as possible and then accelerates. Starting in 2025, this departure procedure will therefore be included as the preferred procedure in the aviation information for commanders (the so-called AIP).

Departure procedures

Roughly speaking, there are two departure procedures. Of course, we would like the departure procedure with the least noise pollution for the immediate area to be chosen as often as possible. Watch our video (only in Dutch) to find more information on this.

Why is the takeoff procedure with the least noise pollution to the immediate area not used now? Airlines have their own preferences based on certain advantages and disadvantages of a takeoff procedure. They will then use the takeoff procedure they fly the most in practice because pilots are then used to it and these procedures are programmed into the aircraft. This is also the case at other airports. Nothing concrete has now been agreed on which takeoff procedure is best for Eindhoven. So that will happen. And we believe that the takeoff procedure should be chosen that causes the least noise pollution for the immediate surroundings.

What is the difference between the two takeoff procedures? One takeoff procedure (NADP1) produces less noise close to the airport (35 Cost Unit Zone) and the other procedure (NADP2) actually produces less noise on the more distant areas. (NADP=Noise Abatement Departure Procedure)

Who decides which takeoff procedure to use? It is ultimately the choice of the individual aircraft captain to determine which takeoff procedure he or she uses.

Will other neighbors/residents experience noise pollution if the takeoff procedure with the least noise pollution for the immediate area is used from now on? (waterbed effect)

In the more distant areas there will be a little bit more nuisance. But because aircraft already sit higher here, that noise impact is also more limited.
